December: The Schuessler Family closes on a 94-acre tract of land located just minutes from downtown Brevard. The primary landmark on the property is a wooded mountain named Sutton Knob. After seeing the views from The Summit at Sutton Knob, Daniel Schuessler decides to name the new development for the mountain.

Early February: Sutton Knob groundbreaking with beginning work on the infrastructure, entrance and amenities underway

Early March: First Draft of Master Plan Completed

March 20: Official groundbreaking and ribbon cutting scheduled at Sutton Knob with plans to unveil completed entrance to the public

Late March: completion of Cedardale Road where four cottages are planned, complete final designs of cottages and begin construction on the first two cottages

June: complete Hollydale Road to pond and have the first phase of amenities completed

Early June: open amenities for special tours, including access to the gazebo, picnic tables, trail system, ponds and views from the summit

June 17: Ribbon Cutting Event at Sutton Knob with BBQ, guided tours and other entertainment.

Summer months: construction of cottages will continue. People interested in taking a tour of Sutton Knob and the many amenities are welcome to schedule a tour or request more information by contacting Eric Crews by using our contact form.

September: begin infrastructure work on The Summit at Sutton Knob where additional home sites are planned

October: Construction on the road to The Summit at Sutton Knob begins. Work is expected to continue through the winter months and be completed Spring 2015.

November: Ribbon Cutting for the first cottage to be completed at Sutton Knob on Cedardale Road.

November: The first three home sites at The Summit at Sutton Knob were sold. These lots provide great views of nearby Pisgah National Forest and the Blue Ridge Mountains and will make excellent home sites.

December: The first review from a guest at Sutton Knob highlights what a unique experience guests can expect to find at Sutton Knob.

December: Construction on additional hiking trails begins. Work to construct the community pavilion also begins.

January: Work continues at a rapid pace at Sutton Knob as the new year begins. Projects currently underway include: the second cottage on Cedardale; road construction to the Summit at Sutton Knob; trail construction to various landmarks at Sutton Knob, including a waterfall and scenic vistas; and construction of a community pavilion in The Meadows.
